ASA Section on Family - The
Section on Family was founded to provide a home for sociologists who are interested in
exploring these issues in greater depth. Many of society's most pressing problems --
teenage childbearing, juvenile
delinquency, substance abuse, domestic violence, child and elder abuse, divorce --are
related to or rooted in the family.
ASA Section on Sociology of
Children - The purpose of the Section on Sociology of Children is to encourage the
development and dissemination of sociological perspectives on children in the areas of
research, theory, policy, practice, and teaching. Here, the term "children"
includes every human being from infancy to the legal majority.
Administration for Children and
Families - Department of Health & Human Services - The Administration for
Children and Families (ACF), within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is
responsible for federal programs which promote the economic and social well-being of
families, children, individuals, and communities.
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) - The
Department of Health and Human Services is the United States government's principal agency
for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services,
especially for those who are least able to help themselves. The Department includes more
than 300 programs, covering a wide spectrum of activities.
Children's Defense
Fund- CDF provides a strong,
effective voice for all the children of America who cannot vote, lobby, or speak for
themselves. We pay particular attention to the needs of poor and minority children and
those with disabilities.

organization. Since 1904, caring adult volunteers have been helping millions of children

The
Labor Project for Working Families - the Labor Project for Working Families is
a national advocacy and policy center providing technical assistance, resources and
education to unions and union members addressing family issues in the workplace including
child care, elder care, flexible work schedules, family leave and quality of life issues.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America
- Founded in 1916, Planned Parenthood is the world's largest and oldest voluntary family
planning organization. Planned Parenthood is dedicated to the principles that every
individual has a fundamental right to decide when or whether to have a child, and that
every child should be wanted and loved.
The International Planned Parenthood Federation -
International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) links national autonomous Family
Planning Associations (FPAs) in over 150 countries worldwide. It is registered as a
charity in the United Kingdom and is the largest voluntary organization in the world to be
concerned with family planning and sexual and reproductive health.
