Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction -
SSSI - SSSI is a social science professional organization of scholars
interested in qualitative, especially interactionist, research. The society
organizes panels and sessions at annual conferences such as the American Sociological
Association and Midwest Sociology Society Annual Meetings, and each spring
holds the Couch-Stone SSSI Symposium.
World Systems Network - WSN is an
electronic conferencing network and information source for scholars and researchers who
are studying world-systems. The purpose of WSN is to facilitate the sharing of information
about research, data, publications, announcements, meetings, syllabi, commentary, book
reviews, scuttlebut and etc. WSN is part of CSF, Communications for a Sustainable Future,
a collection of progressive electronic networks and archives at the University of
Colorado-Boulder.
Journal of World-Systems Research -
published under the sponsorship of the Center for Global, International, & Regional
Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. The main editorial goal of the
Journal of World-Systems Research is to develop and disseminate scholarly research on
topics that are relevant to the analysis of world-systems. We especially want to include
works that proceed from several different theoretical stances and disciplines. These
include, but are not limited to, civilizationists, evolutionary approaches, international
political economy, comparative, historical and cultural analysis. We seek the work of
political scientists, historians, sociologists, ethnographers, archaeologists, economists
and geographers.
Center for the Study of Group
Processes - the Center for the Study of Group Processes was formally established
at the Department of Sociology of the University of Iowa. The mission of the center
includes: promoting basic research in the field of group processes enhancing the
professional development of faculty and graduate students in the social sciences;
facilitating the development of proposals for external funding; and strengthening the
reputation of the University of Iowa as an innovative place for theory-based, scientific
research on group processes.
