McDonaldization of Society -
Discussion of George Ritzer's work and ideas of McDonaldization. McDonaldization is
defined by Ritzer as "...the process by which the principles of the fast-food
restaurant are coming to dominate more and more sectors of American society as well as of
the rest of the world. There are steps that can be taken to cope with McDonaldization.
However, I hold little hope that such actions, even if they were all to be employed by
many people, would reverse the trend toward McDonaldization."

Voice of the Shuttle: Cultural Studies Page -
The Voice of the Shuttle began in late 1994 as an introduction to the Web for humanists at
the University of California, Santa Barbara. Its mission has been to provide a structured
and briefly annotated guide to online resources that at once respects the established
humanities disciplines in their professional organization and points toward the
transformation of those disciplines as they interact with the sciences and social
sciences and with new digital media.
World-Systems Archive Home Page The
purpose of this electronic archive is to promote the free exchange of information relevant
to the study and understanding of the modern world-system and earlier intersocietal
networks. The archive contains announcements, documents, books, data, biographical
information, bibliographies, newletters, and the archives of conversations that have taken
place on WSN. The archive is also the main repository of the Journal of World-Systems
Research.
